Data warehouse Implementation

During Data warehouse implementation phase, we carryout the following activities:

Technical Design
We prepare source to target mapping document, design data warehouse schema (star, snowflake, etc) and write design specifications for the scripts to extract, transform and load data from source systems to the data warehouse. This phase would lead to customization specifications in case of pre-built data warehouse implementations.

Data Modeling
Here we design the data warehouse schema as an E-R diagram using data modeling tools like ERWin, Visio,etc.

ETL Development
We develop and unit test the Extraction Transformation and Load scripts using an ETL tool or using SQL.

Front End Meta Data development
We define the dimensions, facts, attributes, measures, drill-down paths, user security and the business definitions of the terminologies used. This forms the basis for the data analysis.

Report Development
Using the attributes and measures defined in the meta-data above, we work with the business users and build custom reports.

Dash Board Development
We create dashboards for each functional area by pulling together important reports, charts and graphic metrics.

Testing
We perform system testing and integration testing of the data load scripts and the reports by comparing with the source system data and with the source system reports.

User Training
We help in training the business users to use new reports, dashboards and the analytical tools.

Implementation
We move the data warehouse and the reporting environment to Production. Before the system goes live, we will set up the infrastructure for production support, version control and issue logging.
